WE'RE MAKING A TV(ish) SHOW!
We are Theatre Strike Force, the University of Florida's Improv and Sketch Comedy troupe.

So Summer B is officially winding down here in Gainesville. That means we’ve been working on this TV(ish) show for two summer sessions, around twelve weeks (I could check this blog to see the actual start date, but y’know. Clicking).
That may seem like a long time, but some of us have known Oppie for much, much longer. The writers of TSF Sketch were first introduced to this idea way back in December, in the same way that hundreds of famous television shows have been pitched:
“So there’s this guy, right? And his name is Oppie…”
The rest is history.
I have been fortunate enough to been involved with Oppie in almost every aspect possible:
I assisted with writing and formulating episodes this Spring with the Sketch-ers.I got to act, playing the role of Susan in Episode Two. For one or two shoots I took over for Jessie with props. I’ve been the makeup girl, making people look like mimes and burn victims (and mime victims!). I’ve been the script girl, and I know at least a few of our costumes came from my closet. At the moment I’m in charge of cast/extras wrangling, and I’m also (hopefully) going to be helping with the music for show, under direction of one Ms. April Dudash. I even got to hold the chinaball once!
Whether or not I did (or will do) any of these jobs well is yet to be determined.
The fact is though, that I’m astounded by what we’re doing. The kind of experiences that I’m getting, not just production-wise, I couldn’t possibly get anywhere else.
Oppie is an exhausting, frustrating, and confusing lover, but I think that in the end, this relationship is going to be well worth it.
Stay tuned!
